30th March

Well Walt had the day off yesterday but was back again today, seems Friday's he is without his labourer. But he has left all his gear set up so maybe he will be back tomorrow. Slowly but surely it's getting there.

24th March

Oh my goodness someone worked on a Saturday. Can't wait for the roof to go on.. There is only 1 brickie and his dog, sometimes he has a laborer with him, says it will take him about 3 weeks to do the house, so far I think it's been 4 days due to rain. Anyway he is doing a good job.
The gutters arrived but the wrong colour so bit of delay with that, now the right colour is on and looks great! So glad I changed it as Dan wanted the grey facia but I wanted white. All same colour is the fashion but since we didn't choose bricks in the current fashion why not go with what you like...
The roof is a dif colour again but as roofs fade and change colour it should look ok. The lady at home options was pretty adamant I had not chose a colour to match.
Someone has been to check the kitchen measurements (Appollo kitchens) left a note to say they have been to measure up : )

21st march

Not much happening except showers and brickie (note only 1 with an occasional sidekick) turning up randomly. This is 3 days work, no doubt the hardest and most important part to get right and it looks like he is doing a good job.

slow couple of weeks 14th March

Not a lot has happened the last two weeks, bit of rain, front tap and copper pipe stolen...bricks arrived but 1 lot were wrong and several unlabelled so they ended up returning most of them and a new lot arrived. Yesterday I discovered the gutter colour is wrong. Initially we had chose Ironstone for both gutter and fascia, then I decided I wanted the fascia white"surfmist" but somehow in the paperwork I signed for this change we didn't noticie that the gutter was changed not the fascia, more paperwork to fix this so when it arrived with both the gutter and fascia surfmist I wasn't surprised.

The Bank and Accounts at Eden Brae are both annoying, when we applied for our loan we took along all the costs for the extras we added to the initial contract, such as solar panels, electrical, kitchen changes etc. Bank loaned us enough money for these and more to finish yard/shed/air con etc but will only release the progress payments at the original price of the house so each time the Bank makes a progress payment  we are short a couple of grand. Bank told us we would just make 1 payment at end and that would of been easy. Instead of listing these things separately on the invoice from Eden Brae they added the costs and divided over the 6 progress payments even though the invoice has a number of headings for these to be itemised. Makes tracking money difficult and means sending two separate payments each time, of which Eden Brea can't identify because the Bank is not leaving a reference so we need to ring and confirm the amount sent each time.Tried to get 1 one page itemised account for the said extras from the Admin staff but no luck with that, was hoping if we provided it to bank they would just pay the bloody invoices as they are... We could just send them the 12 grand up front but who wants to increase the mortgage by that much before we need too....

Anyway Craig the building supervisor has been great, no complaints there...Brick layers apparently starting tomorrow.

Next on my list is to find out who can fix the drainage in the yard, plumber or landscaper...measure the bath to make sure we get the bigger one, and double check window measurements as I am waiting now for the blind sale so I can purchase the blinds, curtain wonderland usually have 50% off twice a year!
